Praise to the Lord
As it happens, conferences are very busy things without much time to get away to write so I am just sending this out very quickly while waiting for my train home.
We began by singing Praise To The Lord, which has become one of my favourite hymns for one particular line.
Praise to the Lord, oh let all that is in me adore him
Unsurprisingly, when your guest speaker is the writer of God, the Son Incarnate, we have been thinking very big thoughts about Christology and about the person of Jesus Christ. As we sang and as we continued to think, I was struck by this fact.
All that is in Jesus adored the Father because the Father and Son have been loving one another from eternity past.
One of the miracles of the Incarnation is that Jesus accomplished what he did so that we could sing those words, pray those words, and know that one day it will be answered. One day I will know what it is to love my Maker with every fibre of my being.
I know this in part, some days more than others. But one day it will be my reality. One day all that is within me will be rightly oriented toward God and there will be no greater joy than that.
