A culmination
One of the reasons I haven't been able to write as much recently is because of the extra brain power spent planning this service.
When we left the US in 2018, I knew that I wanted to be doing some kind of ministry in the UK. What I hadn’t imagined at the time was that it would result in me eventually being here right now a few days away from an ordination and commissioning service. It feels strange because, as one of our church members said, I’m already doing the job. I’ve been doing this job for three years now. Monday (1 September) marked the third anniversary of my start with Ardgowan.
And then the 6 September brought my formal commissioning and ordination to gospel ministry with Ardgowan Square Evangelical Church. With this comes the closing of one chapter and the start of another, though it does feel like there is a lot of overlap between the two.
I am no longer in a season of active training but in actually doing. There is still much to learn, but it will now be done in the context of the local church as I seek to grow as a leader and under-shepherd.
It was such a joy to experience this commissioning and I pray that I get to serve here for many years to come.
Regular posts will be resuming soon!
